Armor of Earth not working?
I've been running around as an Earth ele lately and I have been using armor of Earth along with the +10 while enchanted armor from kaineng.
At my current Earth magic level I get 55 armor from the spell. With the 60 base this brings my armor to 125. This is a lot higher than any warriors armor but I still get slammed by attacks that dont hurt warriors at all. Why is this? Is this a bug? |

armor only afffects the attacks damage. warrior skills, such as garlath slash or eviscirate, ignore armor.
basicaly, if it says +dmg then it ignores armor. this excludes damage types, such as ele or holy |

First of all, your math is a little off; 60 + 55 is 115, not 125. And that's not as high as you think compared to what a Warrior has versus physical attacks. Most warrior armors have 100 AL against physical attacks (stats here). Add a shield to that and the warrior's got 116 armor, which is already slightly higher than yours. Now add an absorption rune, damage reduction modifiers on the shield, possible additional equipment bonuses such as that on Legionnaire's armor, damage-reducing shouts and stances, etc. and it's no surprise that a warrior is still more durable than you versus physical attacks.
After taking all this into account, if the discrepancy is still greater than you'd expect, then make sure when you're using it that you're not facing an enemy who's stripping your enchantments. I've used Armor of Earth many times, and it does work as advertised. |

it's 125 due to his armor type of +10 while enchanted, but yeah absorption does reduce quite much

Well actually I am concerned with its reduction against spell damage, not physical damage and yes there are no enchantment strippers.
Also, someone else noted the +10 from armor while enchanted. Spell in question is dragon stomp, which when I use against a level 20 warrior around Kaineng, does 33 damage. When an enemy mage uses the same spell against me, I expect to be receiving far less than 33 damage since my armor versus elemental damage is definately higher. |

You said you expected much less than 33, but you didn't say how much damage you were actually taking.
Anyways, your Earth attribute is set at 13, based on AoE being 55. You are assuming that the mage's attribute level is 13 also, when in fact it is probably higher. This will explain why more damage is done to you by the mage compared to the damage you are doing to the warrior. If you have a warrior, take it out to the same area, and see how much damage the same mage deals for comparison. AoE has always worked fine for me. |

As Swinging Fists pointed out, you do need to consider the difference in attribute scores between you and an enemy. If you're in a guild that has a hall, you can set up a scrimmage to convince yourself that AoE is not broken. Have an elementalist on one side with Dragon's Stomp, facing a Warrior with standard equipment and a second elementalist with Armor of Earth. Cast Dragon's Stomp on both of them and see what the damage scores are. |
